Prepare both hosts
Register source and destination in NASitron, pin SSH host-key fingerprints, and install matching 1.0 helpers. Choose an exact source dataset and a dedicated new child dataset beneath an existing destination parent.
Choose the destination carefully
Replication rejects unrelated existing destinations. The receive dataset stays unmounted and read-only, tagged to its policy. Raw sends use snapshot GUIDs for incremental matching and support resumable receives. OpenZFS stream features must be compatible on both hosts.
Understand the path
Streams pass through NASitron over pinned SSH connections, so dashboard availability and its network link affect transfers. An optional MiB/s cap limits forwarded stream bytes.
Verify and recover
Success requires a verified received snapshot, not merely an older shared base. Cancellation retains the partial receive; a later run checks for a resume token. Protective source holds may remain after failures. Inspect the recorded outcome before retrying an unknown transfer or removing holds.
